The Annona (custard apple family) has a rich history in Madeira, where it was introduced during the island’s agricultural golden age. These tropical trees produce sweet, creamy fruits that are traditionally enjoyed fresh when fully ripe.
To grow from seed, begin by soaking the seeds in warm water (25-30°C) for 24 hours to help soften the hard outer coating. Prepare a pot with adequate drainage holes using a light, well-draining soil mix. Plant the seeds about 1cm deep and water them thoroughly. Create a greenhouse effect by covering the pot with transparent plastic that has a few small holes punched for air circulation. Place the pot in a warm location with bright light. Germination typically takes 4-8 weeks, after which the plastic cover should be removed. Water only when the top layer of soil becomes dry, being careful not to overwater.

Each packet contains four seeds.
